Part of my "day job" is building things out of a material called Corian or solid surface. It is a difficult material to work with for many reasons. The process is extremely detail oriented and time consuming. In the final stages of production you are sanding then sanding some more. When you finish sanding you sand a bit more then polish.
I tend to use a "wet sand" technique to minimize the dust inhaled in the process. For those who don't know what I mean by wet sand it is simply sanding a surface with a little water. The dust thickens the water and the sander begins to create some amazing patterns on the work surface.
Every once in a while I am forced to stop for a moment to admire the beautiful images that are soon to be washed off or sanded over and destroyed forever. I wanted to start preserving these images so I began taking pictures of them. my next goal is to create them in the studio where they can be preserved.
